Above is a bronze  Memorial to fallen Jockeys, which is at Caulfield Racecourse.

We are looking at a similar Memorial to be placed at Randwick Racecourse.

We would appreciate any financial support to help fund the cost.

                                          The National Jockeys Celebration Day 2012

The National Jockeys Celebration Day is an initiative of the Australian Jockeys Association, to establish a day to:

•    Recognise the contribution that both former and current jockeys have made to the thoroughbred industry;
•    To commemorate those jockeys who have lost their lives in riding accidents; and
•    To raise funds for the National Jockeys Trust.

Whilst support for fundraising efforts is growing, the National Jockeys Trust faces a real challenge in raising the funds that are required to provide meaningful assistance to an acceptable percentage of those who qualify under the NJT’s charter.

Our dilemma however is to raise sufficient funds so that we might begin to assist those in need.  The Celebration Day is just one way we can raise much needed funds for the trust. Currently there are numerous jockeys nationally who are suffering hardship because of their injuries.  There have been several jockeys in recent years that have suffered such injuries where they will never ride again.  Some of their injuries are permanent disabling, including serious spinal and head injuries.

On designated days throughout Australia NJT merchandise will be sold at racetracks and other outlets to raise funds for the Trust.  To make an online donation please click the Donate button on our home page at www.njt.org.au

Please be sure to check which date the NJCD will be happening in your state.
